0118 GMT — Gold edges higher in early Asian trade ahead of the Federal Reserve’s September policy decision on Wednesday. The meeting will be a big event for the precious metal, as the Fed will not only announce its latest interest-rate decision but also release new economic forecasts, says Oanda analyst Craig Erlam in a research note. The Fed’s decision will affect global bond yields, which is key to gold prices. Lower bond yields tend to boost the appeal of the non-interest-bearing metal. Spot gold is 0.1% higher at $1,925.92/oz.
